Lotion Bars Using Young Living Essential Oils
I've really enjoyed being snowed in the past two days! Look what I made! My house smells wonderful. My skin is feeling relief from the effects of the cold dry weather and working with paper all week!
Lotion Bars!
2 cups Cocoa Butter
1 cup Shea Butter
3 Tbsp Safflower Oil
25 to 30 drops of your favorite Young Living Essential Oils
2 cups Cocoa Butter
1 cup Shea Butter
3 Tbsp Safflower Oil
25 to 30 drops of your favorite Young Living Essential Oils
I used Lavender and Peppermint in one batch, then Gentle Baby and Lavender in the second batch.
This is a huge batch, and I was able to yield eight large Lotion Bars!
I used a pan of water (double boiler) and a class bowl to melt my butters. I used a medium heat to melt the Cocoa and Shea butters together using the handle of a wooden spoon for stirring. I added the safflower oil at the end and let it rest in the bowl for a few minutes. I removed the bowl from the water and let the temp of the combination cool a bit BEFORE adding the essential oils. I added 20 drops of lavender then 5 drops of peppermint just before adding it to the Silicone cups set in a muffin pan.
After I filled the cups I used my hand to wipe out the bowl as not to waste this luxurious mixture.
I let the cups rest on the counter for awhile and hour or so, then put them in the fridge to set up. It took a bit longer for them to set up as they are thick.

I know this sounds dumb, but how do you use a lotion bar?
